Downloading TextWeaver

Download First Time Installer - PC (12M) Version Sept 6, 2003

The Download First Time Installer link downloads an installer program called twSetupWinFull_30906.exe which installs TextWeaver on your PC. You must use this installer the first time you install TextWeaver on your computer.

Download Update Installer - PC (2M) Version Sept 6, 2003

The Download Update Installer link downloads an installer program called twSetupWinUpdate_30906.exe which updates an existing version of TextWeaver on your PC. Use this installer only if you already have TextWeaver on your PC and are upgrading to a more recent version of TextWeaver. See below for information about copying text from Word to TextWeaver.

Once you have downloaded the installer program run the installer by double clicking on the program. The installer will lead you through installing TextWeaver. Occasionally a new version TextWeaver will not run when installed over an older version of TextWeaver. If this happens remove the directory c:\program files\textweaver and install the new version using the first time installer (twSetupWinFull_30906.exe).

Download TextWeaver for Mac (860K) Version August 1, 2003

The Download TextWeaver for Mac link downloads a file called TextWeaver30801.dmg. After downloading it double-click the file TextWeaver30801.dmg. This will open the file as if it were a floppy disk. On this pseudo floppy disk you will see TextWeaver and a readme file. Drag TextWeaver to your hard drive. This version of TextWeaver requires Mac OS 10.2.3 or later and Java 1.4.1. TextWeaver for Mac (pdf) includes instructions on determining if Java 1.4.1 is on your computer. If you need Java 1.4.1 you can download it from Apple or by clicking here (26MB).

Using TextWeaver

The program is configured to allow you to subscribe to "textweaver.tests" and "textWeaver.tutorial". Start TextWeaver by double clicking on its icon or the selcting the TextWeaver menu item in the Start menu. Select the "Subscribe to Courses..." item in the "Course" menu of TextWeaver. In the subscribe dialog window click on the "Next" button to get a list of available courses. Select "textweaver.tests" and click on the "Subscribe" button. The textweaver.tests course to allow people to practice using TextWeaver. Try sending a message to that course.

Copy & Paste between Word & TextWeaver

The current version of TextWeaver supports copy & pasting text from Microsoft Word into TextWeaver. Earlier versions of TextWeaver on the PC did not support copy & paste from Word to TextWeaver. If you are using an older version of TextWeaver you should update to the current version.
